The reporter learned from the Suzhou Institute of Nanotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that the researchers have recently developed a "super insulation material." Compared with ordinary insulation materials, the new materials can provide thermal insulation performance for a long time at extremely low and extremely high temperatures. The new "super insulation material" is an aerogel made from DuPont's Kevlar fiber. The researchers introduced that the Kevlar fiber is made into a nanofiber dispersion, and the dispersion is made into a hydrogel fiber by wet spinning. Experimental tests have shown that aerogel new materials can exert cold and heat insulation in the range of 196 degrees Celsius to 300 degrees Celsius. In an environment of minus 60 degrees Celsius, the aerogel insulation capacity is 2.8 times that of cotton fiber. Compared with the two best artificial insulation fiber materials on the market - hollow fiber and microfiber, Kevlar aerogel fiber has better insulation performance.
